questo finesettimana - this weekend

Amiche. Abbracci. Risa. Parole parole parole (sempre mie). Sorrisi. Abbracci. Buon viaggio e a presto.

Fuori piove piove piove, a catinelle. Poi, all'improvviso smette però brrr che freddo. Vestiti, giubbino, scheda elettorale. Bicicletta.

The sound of the phone which wakes you up with a start and then on the other side of the receiver there is none. Kamut bread to be baked, labna to be seasoned and hummus to prepare. The rest is ready since last night: a spring vegetables timbale, falafel I have bought yesterday from the new turkish restaurant next to the office (but mine are definitely better!) and eggplant and cous cous rissoles and spiced tomato sauce with mint. Two batches of crackers which this time have come really well. The table set in my garden. The entance path with jasmine blossoms. Friends. Hugs. Laughs. Words words words (mine, mostly). Gewürztraminer, that if there was nothing like it, it had to be invented. I did not even take a photo... A short walk to the park. Icecreams drowned in some coffee. Words words words (again mine). Smiles. Hugs. Enjoy your trip and see you soon.

The sound of the phone which wakes you up with a start while you don't like what the voice at the other end is saying. An internet search to find and alternative, while nibbling at leftovers. With some healthy raw ham ( only pork leg and salt as ingredients) you have found where youhad not expected to. Outside it's raining, raining, raining – it's raining cats and dogs. Then it suddenly stops but it's quite cold, brrr. Clothes, jacket, ballot paper. Bicycle. A trip to the superstore to leave there some euros in exchange for summer outfits and swimsuits for my little boy, since the old ones do not fit him anymore. And then to the ballot box, to make a cross for who you hope will become the mayor of your small community. And it starts raining again. A bike ride under the rain, while you cross a friend in her car who trumpets and greets. Back home, and to your pc. To send some emails still searching for the alternative. Since you're almost there. It's almost time to go to the sea.

questo finesettimana - this weekend

Last week ran over me like a bulldozer. The return to everyday life has upset my rhythm and I found myself every night with all the weariness of the world. But it was a good tiredness, which who had to deal with a new approach in my office, the continuation of my personal well-being path and the awareness that, after all, things are going in the right direction.

Yet I needed the weekend. A Saturday morning passed without timetables and unhurried and letting my little boy having fun at the park while I enjoyed a great latte macchiato sprinkled with cinnamon, with a jazz background music and some conscious magazines to browse. And an afternoon with him amongst adult friends, appetizers, a swap party and some chatting.

And I needed a Sunday. To receive the gift of a brand new bookmark made with love and a beautiful drawing. And I needed to fill my wicker basket and go for a picnic and an trip. Here. Among yellow water lilies, lotus buds, swans, ducks, herons and reeds. The way and the right place for being outdoors, to enjoy the wonder of a child, to remember how beautiful life is and to get ready for a new week.

Come?

Last summer, in Austria, I found in my favorite magazine an article that since then, when headache comes to see me, has solved my life: acupressure against headache.

Does it work? For the traditional Chinese medicine the problem does not arise. But how does it work? According to the Chinese teaching, we feel pain when and where our vital energy stagnates or crashes.
Putting pressure on some points where certain meridians pass, the energy goes back into circulation and the pain disappears. You just have to find out which points give you the best result. The duration of each acupressure is 30 to 60 seconds for each exercise and may, if necessary, be repeated after a short break.

Under the ears.
Place your index finger in each small cavity below the earlobe. Massage and gently press while executing some small circular motions.

Above the eyebrows.
Two other points are just a finger over the center of the eyebrows. Press these points 30 to 60 seconds moderately with your thumb. Then press them again by running a small circular motion always 30 to 60 seconds.

On the temples.
The pressure points are located in the small recesses of the temples, a finger from the end of the eyebrows. Press these points slightly with your index finger.

On the earlobes.
Take your right ear between thumb and forefinger of your right hand. Gently knead and pull. Then treat in the same way your left ear lobe with your left hand.

questo finesettimana - this weekend

I tempi dilatati.
 ***
Taking some more time. Marvelling the flowers in your garden. A shower and a new hair style, which is not too bad. Just wanting to relax. And not to have fixed timetables. Enjoying every single minute of the weekend, before returning to real life. A bike ride in the land of peach trees. A jump behind your house to fill your refrigerator with colored vegetables and with fruits you'll bring to the office to continue that path of well-being you've undertaken which makes you feel so good.

Waking up before the alarm clock sounds and affording the luxury of staying in bed. To have breakfast, to notice that the cookies are finished and to bake immediately some new ones. And with the advanced pastry to prepare a couple of healthy snacks. To have lunch in the sun, to hang out your laundry and then to get on your bike and go for 12 km, around town with a girlfriend with a stop to drink a cup of cold green tea with mint - and then to ride back at breakneck speed, taking just the time for two words the guy on the bike path with you, since you both risk to be cought by the storm. But no, you get home a minute before a deluge and you also manage to save your laundry. Dinnertime, a couple of bills to be paid online, some agenda items to be scored in, a phone call and a great movie on tv which you've been watching in bits and pieces while writing your online diary and reorganizing your pictures.

The first poppies have sprung up on the street, as if summer had arrived.
And tomorrow you're back to the office.

* 1 tazza di sapone di marsiglia purissimo grattugiato
* ½ tazza di soda solvay (ma mi dicono ora sia opzionale e/o sostituibile da pari dose di bicarbonato). Una raccomandazione importantissima: la soda solvay non è altro che carbonato di sodio (Na2CO3) e non va assolutamente confusa con la soda caustica! Per chi non lo sapesse, è un ottimo detergente ecologico, costa pochissimo e la si può usare in mille modi per le pulizie di casa.
* ½ tazza di bicarbonato di sodio
* 2 tazze d'acqua fredda
* 1,5 tazze d'acqua calda
* qualche goccia di olio essenziale (facoltativo, io ci ho messo la lavanda, ma dato che poi sul bucato sparisce, la prossima volta la ometterò risparmiandola per tutti gli altri usi splendidi che ne faccio)
* 1 flacone di detersivo vuoto

This recipe is not mine., I found it here. Knowing the individual ingredients and their effectiveness, I was immediately convinced, so that as soon as I finished my traditional detergent, I armed myself with my trusty Thermomix and immediately tried it.

I made a reduced quantity to fit my bottle, and also after having added some water the first two or three times, this quantity proved to be perfect for me.

All you need is:

* 1 cup grated pure soap
* ½ cup of sodium carbonate (but it seems to be optional and / or replaced by equal amount of baking soda).
* ½ cup of baking soda
* 2 cups cold water
* 1.5 cups hot water
* a few drops of essential oil (optional, I put some lavender, but since it then disappears on the laundry, next time I'll omit it and save it for all its other wonderful uses)
* an empty bottle of detergent

you have to combine grated soap and warm water and dissolve them into a pot over low heat, and then you have to add – always over low heat and slowly - the sodium carbonate and he baking soda. You leave this mixture to rest overnight and next day you blend it with an immersion blender to remove all traces of lumps. You  then pour it into an empty bottle of detergent adding some cold water and eventually the essential oil. Since this detergent tends to clog, the bottle is always to be shaken vigorously before use and, indeed, the first 3-4 times you should also add some other cold water to give the detergent the right consistency.

It washes well, I surely won't give it up.
