perché amo l'autunno - why I love autumn

***
until not long ago I wouldn't have been able to say 'I love autumn'. I would have remained fixed on my 'summer love', crystallized on the past and I would have probably spent my time complaining that it ended up and missing an endless number of wonderful things. thanks god we change.

***

I love autumn for its colors. the color of sunlight that becomes warmer, the color of the sky which turns bluer because it loses the whiteness which is typical of too hot days, the color of all the leaves in the world, a thousand of shades that remind you of fireplaces and of warmth as soon as you see them.

***

I love autumn because it makes me the gift of the emotions of the woods. there, in addition to colors, there is the crackle of dry leaves and twigs underfoot. and there are chestnuts which are good to eat. and also the ones which are just good to collect, and if you put them in your pocket they keep away the cold. and there are acorns, which have always been friendly to me and which I have always thought being food for the elves.

***

I love autumn because pumpkins are back. and mushrooms too. and hot soups. flavors - for those who, like me, also follow the seasons in the kitchen – yuo have not enjoyed since last year and which every time seem almost new.

***

I love autumn because it is far from the extremes, because it is still not cold and a warm woolen cape is enough to shelter you from the lower temperatures, but it not even hot anymore, except maybe at midday or in your car when it's parked in the sun.

***

I love autum because I love halloween in its ancient sense, that of when in long times gone it marked the celtic new year together with samhain. as a matter of fact, halloween etymologically means all hallows eve, i.e. 'the night before all saints' day' and has nothing to do with pumpkins, bats and ghosts - let alone with 'trick or treat?', but it marks the celebration – on November 1st – of the arrival of the new year (which anyway does much more sense than January 1st, as samhain means summer's end and arrives at the beginning of a period of darkness and cold).

ancora nella favola - once again in the fairy tale

***
today I went back to this place and I regretted with Libero for not having told anything in my post about his paintings. to get his permission to download the photos of his paintings in the net took just a second. and really I can not help but share them with those who passing by have already been touched by the magic of that place. and with those who haven't yet.

questo finesettimana - this weekend

***
on saturday morning I picked up my little boy at his father's place
and this is what I had in front of me when I parked.

***
we did our usual rounds in the village: we borrowed some books from the library, we bought groceries and fruit and vegetables and we played a little at the park. and this is what I had in front of me while I was walking.

***
I found face to face with the autumn.
and this is what I met while moving my gaze upwards.

***
we came back from the park with something to greet autumn also at home

***
on sunday we invited my little boy's father and we went for a walk in the woods, amongst olive trees, warm colors, roast chestnuts and mulled wine.

***
and when we went back home, my little boy and I welcomed a friend of mine whom I had not seen for years, amongst rivers of words and of hot white ( but maybe it was green...) tea.

bei pensieri a caso - beautiful random thoughts

***
every time is the same old story. I reluctantly enter the water and after a while I realize I am in my element. today, more than last week, I have been there fully present to myself and I have enjoyed every single wave that has lapped my body and I have enjoyed my muscles brought back to life and focused on the movement thay had to perform. I think that yes, I will find myself again.

my little boy's pool is in another room, I have no idea what he's doing there. but I see he is happy afterwards. and it's really wonderful to share a shower and dress together after we're both a little tired, but also refreshed and happy.

***
up the stairs, I found myself with my nose up under a sky broken by pink clouds, the same clouds I found a little further reflected in my car. I decided to play 'let's pretend that everything is possible' and I pretended to take them with me. and when my little boy in the car said to be disappointed because I could not take a picture of that sunset that we ran alongside, I just said: let's change our thoughts and instead of feeling sorry for having missed a picture, let's say 'how nice, however, to have the possibility to see a sunset like this! it really takes nothing to smile again.

(lo so, lo so, devo ancora scrivere del weekend...)

come in una favola - as if in a fairy tale

***

(last) saturday morning. my little boy is riding his bike without back wheels and to go to the post office we pass through the park, so he can play a little and I allow myself a coffee and a chat with the man who from may on is running the bar at the park - in my opinion and also in someone else's one – in a delicious and almost healthy way (brown sugar, homemade ice cream, aware speeches, ecological magazines). between a chat and the other, I tell him that I have to go buy a birthday present for our little girlfriend. and that it bothers me that the place where I'd like to go is in the center of town, there is no parking and the bus path has been changed since it's saturday. so he tells me: do you know where you could go? and he explains. his enthusiasm passes from his eyes into mine and about 15 minutes after this conversation my little boy and I are already at the scene.

***

I barely have time to ask if I can take a look. once I cross the threshold, I feel like I'm Alice in Wonderland. or Pinocchio in Toyland. something like that. then, when the landlord tells me: 'I bet it doesn't seem real to you to find someone who still speaks italian - and not chinese - with his suppliers', I smile in and out and I ask him for permission to take pictures of everything.

***

while my little boy would have bought the half of the store that I would not buy (I mean, I would buy the other half, of course :-P ) I have a little (well, actually not that little) talk with Libero, the owner of the shop, and I discover that he opened in 1985, that he moved to its present location ten years ago and that he is very proud of having customers who think very highly of him and who love him and who love what he does, so that they allowed him to resist despite the invasion of various toys stores and chinoiseries. almost every object is handmade and hand painted by him. and everything is really wonderful.

questi sono carillons

these are carillons

***
I obviously left my heart on the copy of the wheel of the prater in vienna

***
but I'm pretty sure my little boy would walk over hot coals
to get the one with the moving train

e poi ci sono gli orologi
***
and then there'are the clocks

 e le scatole
***
and the boxes

e i giochi
***
and the toys

***
and there are the decorations (and Libero's little assistant)

e vogliamo parlare degli omini fumanti?
***
and what about the smoking little men?

***
they are german, you open them and stick into them a little cone of natural incense
and they smoke!

(lo vedete il fumo? )
***
(can you see the smoke?)

basandosi sullo stesso principio, Libero crea stufe e caminetti che fumano
***
Libero makes smoking stoves and fireplaces based on the same principle

***
I still wan to tell you a couple of things. maybe three.

 ***
the first thing is that there's tha sell-off of christmas objects and that I absolutely could resist it. then, speaking of christmas, Libero told me that in december on the advent sundays he has special openings and offers glückglühwein (which is glühwein to which he added the glück!) and lebkuchen and he gives a little present to those passing by.

ecco cos'ho comprato per me
***
here's what I bought

***
the second thing is that he let us choose and he gave us each a bookmarker. and he also gave me a bookmark with a little thanks card for the guy of the bar at the park (who used to go sailing, therefore I didn't chose his bookmark by chance - and mine as well, after all :-P )

***
the third thing is, that there's a webpage with online shop (for italians only I'm afraid).

***

you know, people here on earth keep talking of a man and a girl who went to heaven in those days. r.i.p. and I say to myself: so what? death is part of life. they were young? and? as if you weren't young too. what need is there of all this fuss?.

it makes me a strange effect thinking that the silence of these two days was in some way an omen. and it's strange that I've been told today that the day before yesterday you went to heaven too.

I was hoping you'd been here still a bit , I so wanted to see you again. you remained in my heart, somehow, since that night at dinner, a year ago.

but I know you're better where you are now. and that you will protect you-know-who.
I'll remember you with a smile.

bei pensieri a caso - beautiful random thoughts

***

I received an email from customer service ikea. it say I should bring back the tent busa because it is dangerous. the webpage also says that there were 3 cases of rupture of the fabric and of release of the metal frame and that in one of the three cases, a child suffered minor injuries.
I have spoken with the father of my son. we both agree that there is no mortal danger involved and that anyone can be injured using or playing with a lot of things. the decision is made: the tent remains. I really can't take it away from my son.

yesterday and today my heart has flown a bit. words and images have come from another place and they aroused in me emotions and awakened memories of bygone days. and there is no day that I do not thank the universe for having met some people.

I had a golden opportunity this afternoon. I believe in signs (don't you?) and I had a nice and clear one. I was shown a path. in a week I'm going to start a new journey of love for me.

it is said that today is going to be the last hot day, it 's getting cold. well, this means that I'll convince myself of being in autumn. I wan't that certain about ir until now. and to prepare myself for the fall, I will spend some of my evening knitting and some immersed in a hot and scented bath.
