questo finesettimana - this weekend

I could say that on saturday morning I slept more than usual, that I found out that riding a bike in the light of november is great and that if you pass next to a hedge of laurel while you it's being pruned a wonderful aroma comes to your nostrils and you feel like making keeka's aromatic soup. and if a bush of lavender is being pruned, you get a whiff that smells of Provence and of well-being.

I could say that for my country saturday was the da of a turning point, but I don't talk about politics and, frankly, I prefer to focus on turning points in my life, which is something that still count. yes, because exactly one year ago I saw ghosts in here, but if I look back now and see the steps, the balances, the sacrifices, the changes, the synergies and where we are now and how we got here and that we are the most beautiful pair in the world now that we are no longer a couple, then I smile and I know once again that this was the path to take and that things had to go this way.

I could say I made a chicken leg with orange worthy of the best chefs. and that I dedicated som time to myself (and that I spent lots of time in front of the mirror, trying to accept my thair cut, which is too short for me) and also some to the care of my house and that I smiled at the end of the day reading Louise L. Hay, which came at the right moment.

"Look at your home. Is it a place where you really want to live? Is it comfortable and joyous, or is it cramped and dirty and always messy? If you don't feel good about it, you are never going to enjoy it. Your home is a reflection of you. What state is it in?" - Louise L. Hay

I could also say that I went on sewing a project that is a warm birthday present, that my house was delighted by the notes of a jazz piano or by some wonderful jazz voices, that I went out to lunch with friends, but also that before that I went out by bike with my canon around my neck to capture some glimpse of autumn. I could say that I came back home wanting to jump on my couch and watch a movie and instead I turned on the pc to download my photos and while browsing here and there I had another confirmation on energy which runs across the universe and thoughts that cross boundaries and reach hearts. I know that if I see a yellow puppet and hear someone calling a dog with that name there is a reason. (there's always a reason). and that it takes nothing to feel a brief but intense moment of pure joy, where tears want to pierce your eyes with happiness.

therefore I'll just say that also this weekend, as it's been going on since some time in my lovely life, I have seen and tasted and experienced so many wonderful little things that give meaning to life, and that before I was not able to see. and that I am grateful for this. and also for all that is yet to come.

dialogo in auto, qualche giorno fa.

premise: since I read a post about leaving our foot as free as we can, I am more pleased that we are a barefoot family. but this season, in this house, you really can't be barefoot.

dialogue in our car, a few days ago.

- what if your mom would make you a nice pair of slippers shaped like a dinosaur?
- ... and what about doing them in the shape of a car? like in the shape of Lightning McQueen!?

notes: my sewing machine burned out before I could finish sewing buzz's costume.
but I am bold. and madly in love with blanket stitch.
therefore I took this martha stewart's model and I got down to work.

questo finesettimana - this weekend

sabato.

saturday.
I took some time to myself in the morning. on friday night my little boy had gone with his dad, since they couldn't see each other during the week. then he came back. and both of us, each in his way, passed through a crisis. a separation does not always go unnoticed, not even in here. he was able to let it go after a while. and in the meantime I had someone who gave me a hand to get out of it. a great hand, to be honest.
when it has cleared up, we prepared together a pumpkin and chocolate pie for the lunch with his grandmother of the following day. after dinner he wanted to call her to ask if he could taste the cake ahead of time. obviously she would never say no, therefore we ended up tasting the cake in two. at that point it was my turn to call her back to tell that, probably, she would have found even less cake, since with no doubt we would have had it also for breakfast.

sunday (with buckets of rain and crosswind).
bold grandma came by bus (but then we drove her home in the evening).
she hadn't been here a long time, so he saw my changes and, finally, even this bedroom. in the meantime, I prepared a simple but effective menu: boned roasted and stuffed chicken legs and potatoes with cumin in the appropriate quantity to promote world peace. all accompanied by full-bodied red wine and followed by the above mentioned cake.
while grandmother and grandson let loose (they pulled out almost everything, rearranged, played hide and seek and maybe something else I don't know), I gave myself to the creative project to which I had been turning around for a few days.
after having driven grandma home, we made a truckload of popcorn in a pan (you should have seen how much fun my little boy ad when I raised the lid and the pot shot popcorn all over our kitchen) and he chose a film, since I had promised him a sort of home theater afternoon. he chose one of our favorite movies (yes, I still believe in Santa Claus, you'd better know it). and while he watched it, I continued to create. the final result at the end of the evening saw us both excited. but you still have to wait for a while to see it ...

the queen and the two thin women were picked up some time ago from my mother's cellar with her approval. now this room is part of me and it helps me to remind that there's a woman living in here.

martedì 1 novembre 2011

questo lungo) (finesettimana - this (long) weekend

***
this long weekend helped me to find time, which, ultimately, is never enough for me. or rather, it's enough for me to live, giving up all that cannot be included in it (including this blog, since I rarely write and I'm almost bored by myself if I reread me. there are even people who end up commenting the previous weekend when another one has already gone... amen.)

***

I found time to explain to my son who came home with pumpkins, what does halloweenrepresent for me. and also time to play with him on the mat with those games who almost never use, to enjoy all of the few hours that he would have spent with me these days.

***

I found time for music. some time ago, at a conference held at the Waldorf school, the educator said that for children under a certain age (6, 7 years, maybe more) there is no need to listen to music because they do not need it and it is only an external stimulus extra. well, he started listening to mozart when he was still in my womb and I have been raised in a home with cable radio, I really couldn't live without music. I live with headphones in my ears since decades. but in our home lately our stereo was always turned off, who knows why.

- mom, where does this beautiful music come from?
- from our hi-fi, sweetheart.
- what's a hi-fi, mom?
- it's that big thing in our living room where music comes from. do you like it?
- yes, it's a wonderful music.

e questa era la musica meravigliosa.
***
and this was the wonderful music.

***

without him I also found time for my home, which has been clean and tidied with hot steam everywhere: carpets, floors, mattresses. I actually washed almost everything.

***

and after more than two years since I live here, I could even find time to hang curtains in my room.

***

and then I found lots of time for me. for the promises I have made to myself, for my new paths, for my body. a time made of wakining up at 8 to go to the pool, to swim 40 minutes with no break and then enjoy the sauna and turkish bath and cold showers between one thing and the other. a time for making tea in a teapot, to be sipped slowly.

(a proposito, io amo quest'uomo. sapevatelo.)
***
a time made of hours curled up on my couch, finally in front of this movie, which I had always wanted to watch. (by the way, I so love this man. you'd better know it.)

***
a time made of light food, cooked with dedication because my stomach was the guest of honor. among other things, it came out an improvised gorgeous soup.

eventually I could find time for something I wanted to change

***
and also time for somethig I wanted to create.

 ma questa è un'altra storia.
