una singola foto - senza parole - che cattura un momento della settimana.
un momento semplice, speciale, straordinario.

la tv non spazzatura esiste - not everything that goes on tv is trash

guardo raramente la televisione. e non ne sono mai stata una fan. però consento che mio figlio, a piccole dosi, ogni tanto ne guardi un po'. gli è concesso un solo canale, raiyoyo. è così che ho scoperto – con somma gioia e stupore - che non tutto quello che passa in tv è spazzatura.

I rarely watch television. and I have never been a tv fan. but I agree that my son watches a bit of it, although in small doses. He is allowed to watch only one channel, raiyoyo. based on the principle of "learning through play" it broadcasts 24 hours 24 cartoons, original formats and fables and it focuses on the quality and diversity of the various techniques of animation and narrative (story, narrative, drama, rhymes, etc.). that's how I discovered - with great joy and amazement - that not everything that goes on TV is trash.

'disegnami una storia' è l'ultimo programma serale concesso all'ometto prima della nanna. Inizia poco prima delle nove e dura all'incirca 7 minuti. ogni sera una voce narrante racconta una storia e delle mani creano usando acquarelli, penne, pezzi di stoffa o i materiali più svariati per animarla. davvero un bel programma.

'draw me a story' is the latest evening program my little boy is allowed to watch before going to bed. it begins just before 9 p.m. and lasts approximately 7 minutes. every evening a narrator tells a story and some hands enliven it using water colors, pens, fabrics or some various materials. a really nice program.

l'eccezione - the exception

l'ho già detto qui, di solito non partecipo ai riconoscimenti tra bloggers, perché non voglio escludere nessuno.

il riconoscimento avuto da paola (grazie mille!) si chiama 'I love your blog' e stasera voglio fare un'eccezione e stare al gioco. che io davvero amo tutti i blog che seguo, dal primo all'ultimo. i cinque che scelgo di nominare, però, sono mondi virtuali scoperti da poco, boccate d'aria buona da respirare a pieni polmoni a fine giornata, che mi mettono in pace con me stessa e col mondo e mi ricordano quanta vita c'è. in una foto, in un sorriso, in un gioco inventato, in una fattoria al di là del mondo e in tutte le piccole cose che fanno grande la vita.

I have already said here that I do not normally take part in the awards amongst bloggers since I do not want to exclude anyone.
the award I got from paola (thanks a lot!) is called 'I love your blog' and tonight I want to make an exception and play along.

I really love all the blogs I follow, from the first to the last. the blogs I choose to appoint tonight are five virtual worlds I have recently discovered, some drafts of fresh air to breathe deeply at the end of the day which put me at peace with myself and with the whole world and remind me how much life there is. in a picture, in a smile, in an invented game, on a farm on the other side of the world and in all the little things that make life great.

quando siamo venuti a vivere qui un anno e mezzo fa, mi sono sbarazzata dei teli copridivano che nella casa vecchia avevamo sempre usato. adoro vedere la vera forma dei divani e dei singoli cuscini. eppure, ora che la vita mi è cambiata, li vorrei vedere diversi. mi piacerebbe metterci sopra un telo copritutto a righe multicolor, come questa stoffa di ikea, per svecchiare la sala. ma son divani grandi, ci vorrebbe parecchia stoffa e farlo adesso significherebbe utilizzare parte del budget destinato ad altro (per esempio alle ferie) perciò non mi sembra il caso. sto comunque cercando una soluzione più economica che mi consenta ugualmente di cambiare e dare aria nuova.

when we came to live here a year and a half ago, I got rid of the sofa cover sheets that I had always used in the old house. I love to see the true shape of sofas and of each pillow. Yet, now that my life has changed, I would like to see them different. I'd like to put on a cover in a multicolor striped fabric like this one from IKEA to modernize the room. but these are large sofas, it would need a lot of fabrics and doing it now would require using part of the budget assigned to something else (for example, to holidays) so I do not want to do it. anyway I'm still looking for a cheaper solution that will enable me to change a bit and also give fresh air to this room.

questa però ve la spiego. il bookstop, un caffé letterario che frequento da tempo, ha ideato questa cosa meravigliosa che consente di liberarsi di cose inutilizzate o superate, riciclandole a terzi e divertendosi un sacco.

now let me explain this. the bookstop, a literary cafe I use to go to, offers this wonderful opportunity to get rid of unused or outdated things, recycling it to others and having lots of fun.

funziona così: un sabato al mese ci si reca sul posto portando con sé fino ad un massimo di 5 oggetti tra abbigliamento e accessori, di cui ci si vuole liberare. in cambio dei 5 oggetti si riceve un gettone. si pagano 5 euro e si hanno té, caffé, una bevanda e dei muffins a disposizione per la merenda ed un'ora di tempo per guardarsi attorno e curiosare tra tutti gli oggetti che sono stati consegnati per lo scambio. dopodiché comincia il vero party e ci si può accaparrare ciò che si è scelto, restituendo un gettone per ogni capo preso. qualora il capo in questione sia conteso da più donzelle, ce lo si gioca hai dadi (divertentissimo!): ieri una borsa in pelle di yves saint laurent se la son giocata in otto. per dire.

that's how it works: once a month on a certain saturday afternoon you can go there carrying up to a maximum of 5 items of clothing and accessories you want to get rid of. for each item in exchange you get a token. you pay 5 euro and you have tea, coffee, muffins and drinks available for an afternoon snack and an hour to look around and browse through all the items which have been delivered for the swap. then the real party starts and you can hoard what you have chosen by returning a token for each item taken. if the item in question is disputed by several people, you'll have to dice it (sooo funny!): yesterday 8 women played dice to get a leather bag by yves saint laurent.

tutti gli items non presi, vengono riproposti per 3 swap parties e poi dati in beneficenza se davvero non li vuole nessuno.

io ho portato due collane, un bracciale, una sciarpa ed un paio di occhiali da sole. gli occhiali me li son ripresa io (quando li ho visti esposti con gli altri accessori li ho rivalutati). e mi son portata a casa un paio di pantaloni made in nepal ed un paio di scarpe pazzesche di zara praticamente nuove ed un buono di 2 gettoni per il prossimo swap party, dato che non li o utilizzati tutti. inutile dire che non vedo l'ora...

I brought two necklaces, a bracelet, a scarf and a e tpair of sunglasses. I took my sunglasses back, since when I I saw them on display with the other accessories I re-evaluated them. and I brought home a pair of trousers made in Nepal and a pair of practically new crazy zara shoes and a voucher of 2 tokens for the next swap party, since I had not used all of them. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to it already...

l'avevo detto qui, che avevo qualcosa in mente. ora, io non ho mai cucito nulla. ok, un paio di bottoni, forse. e la coccinella dello scorso anno, due punti per fissar la stoffa ai lati e 6 bottoni automatici in tutto. perciò come mi sia venuta l'idea di voler accontentare l'ometto per carnevale, io non lo so.
il mio primo acquisto su ebay era stato fatto in quest'ottica e spendendo il minimo indispensabile, dato che non avevo idea se sarei poi stata in grado di affrontare la cosa o meno. i vecchi schemi mentali, quelli del “non sei capace di”, si son divertiti un mondo, il mese scorso. ed io li ho assecondati, temporeggiando e pensando che, alla fine, il costume l'avrei comprato bello e pronto. questo almeno fino a lunedì.
reduce da un finesettimana allietato dagli mms del lavoro in corso d'opera della mia musa ispiratrice, alla fine, mi son buttata anch'io. quando lunedì sera ho rivoltato il lavoro estratto dalla macchina da cucire e mi sono resa conto di avere in mano davvero un paio di pantaloni creati da me, mi sono sentita quasi onnipotente.
poi, pian piano, è venuto tutto il resto. ieri pomeriggio, arrivata a casa per assemblare il tutto, sono rimasta spiazzata dalla macchina da cucire che si è fermata per non ripartire più. mi hanno salvato la forza di volontà ed il punto festone. ed io sono davvero soddisfatta di me stessa e del risultato.

da stamani a martedì il mio ometto potrà essere buzz lightyear (o, come dice lui quando gli chiedono “da cosa ti vesti?”, toy story 3). 

I had told you here that I had something in mind. now, I have never sewn anything. ok, a couple of buttons, perhaps. and the ladybug costume last year, two points to secure the fabric to the sides and 6 snaps in all. so I really do not know what possessed me when I decided I would have pleased my little boy for carnival...

my first purchase on ebay had been done with this in mind and spending the minimum, since I had no idea whether I would then have been able to deal with it or not. the old thought patterns, that famous "you are not capable of," have been having lots of fun with last month. and I've indulged them, stalling and thinking that, eventually, I would have bought the costume good and ready. at least until last monday.

after a weekend cheered via mms with the work in progress of my muse, in the end, I decided to come into play. on monday night when I turned the work extracted from the sewing machine and I realized I was holding a pair of trousers which had been really created by me, I felt almost almighty.
then, slowly, came the rest. this afternoon, short after coming home to assemble it all, I was puzzled by the sewing machine that stopped working. my willpower and whip stitch saved me. and I am really satisfied and pleased with the result and with myself.

from this morning and until tuesday, my little boy is Buzz Lightyear (or, as he keeps saying when asked "what are you going to wear for carnival?" Toy Story 3).
